Natural Fly Control
The most common questions that I am being asked about our plans involve a more complete picture of what we mean by "holistic" boarding. One large consideration is flys... How do you keep the fly population down without poision? First - we use (and resell) fly biological fly elimiators:
What are Fly Eliminators™ ?
- Tiny, harmless, gnat-sized Beneficial Insects that are approved by the USDA and do not harm humans or animals in any way.
- Fly Parasites, used by horse and livestock owners to eliminate flies BEFORE they hatch into annoying, disease-carrying adults.
- Your #1 Non-Toxic Ally Against Flies. Proven to Work.
How Do Fly Eliminators™ Work?
- At Night – Fly Eliminators kill flies in their pupal (cocoon) stage, while they are developing in the ground.
- As a Predator and a Parasite – Fly Eliminators seek out their prey and destroy by feeding on and breeding within the contents of fly pupae.
- Using Scheduled Releases – Disperse Fly Eliminators on fly breeding sites every 2-4 weeks throughout the fly season.
We will be spreading these useful creatures in all the areas where flies breed and congregate. We have been using them for the past 4 years and they have made an incredible difference. With at least one horse on the property with auto-immune problems complicated by fly allergies - we make a sincere effort to keep flies out.
If you would like more information on fly predators for your pest problems - call us at 800-797-8274. Soon we will also offer programs from our website.

Along the line of eliminating small pests without toxins, how about ANTS?
I have been able to do away with a Leaf Cutter Ant hill using oatmeal! I spread steal cut Oatmeal, or any other regular cooking Oatmeal, around the hill for a day or two and let them take all the flakes down their maze they wished.
Then for a day or two I “watered the hill”. That is, I poured water on / down the hill. The Oatmeal expanded and killed off the colony.
I also have used Borax to keep ants and roaches from entering my home. A line of Borax on the sill of a window or doorway kills them nearly instantly. The Borax is like walking through glass for insects, and they “bleed” to death. This will work for areas which cannot be reached by children or pets, just put down a line of Borax. Be prepared to clean the area regularly. Vacuuming is best if your machine does not send all that stuff back into the air you are breathing.

Some other ways of keeping bugs down without chemicals:
Diatomaceous earth also works to kill any arthropod, that insect, spider, tick, roach what ever...
You use it by sprinkle it around the edges of a room, or across a door way. By walking through it it will clogs their breathing organs, thus killing them. It only kill the ones it touches but it does a good job.
And...
Mixing Borax and coco or anything they will eat will kill roaches. And we all know that cockroaches are not necessarily a sign of a dirty home.
They show up anywhere they please. The large ones, also called water bugs in the Southwest, will move into the house just for the cool. So, don’t think knowing how to kill them doesn’t apply to you.
