Feeding Pets to Pets
Would you knowingly feed your dog or cat pet food containing other dogs and cats? Doesn't sound very appetizing does it? Unfortunately, in many U.S. states it is completely legal - and common practice - to add euthanized pets from animal control and veterinarians to the rendered meats pot. Which is where the "meat" that is used in most commerical pet foods comes from.
As we have learned in the past few years, mad cow disease comes from feeding cows back to cows. Can we look forward to a similar disorder if our pets are fed a diet of their own protein?
What makes this even worse than it initially sounds is that the drug used to euthanize these pets (Sodium Pentobarbital) is not broken down in the cooking process. It makes it through into pet foods! So this poison adds to the chemicals that toxify the liver and kidneys. This undoubtedly adds to the 50% plus cancer rate in dogs and the soon to catch that rate in cats.
So what can you do? If a raw diet which mimics that which Mother Nature fed our pets does not fit into your life style than look for what I call "Ultra-Premium" pet foods. These are foods where the manufacture uses only U.S.D.A. human grade meats, no chemical preservatives or food colorings and, preferably, bio-available mineral supplements such as amino acid chelates.
Of course, the labeling laws are written to support the multi-national food corporations - Heinz, Colgate, Proctor and Gamble, etc. and their ability to sell agri-waste. Companies that use U.S.D.A. human grade meat are not allowed to say so on the label! In fact, if there is at least 51% chicken in the rendering pot it can be called "Chicken" on the label. Even if the other 49% is made up of dog, cats, road kill, zoo animals or horses. So ask your food supplier for the sales literature for your pet food.
We sell Dynamite® brand pet foods and supplements because they do use human grade ingredients - for ALL species. This increases the digestability of the food, so we feed less. Our clients report smaller stools, a reversal of allergy and weight problems, better coats and beautiful healthy puppies.
